Dylan Larsen, the music teacher at LWC Intermediate School in Lennox, S.D., has been involved with show choir for over a decade as a performer, clinician and director. Most recently as a show choir director, he led two show choirs at East Middle School and East High School in Sioux City, Iowa from fall 2022 through spring 2024. The middle school show choir, Sparks, is open to all choir students in grades 6 - 8, while the high school show choir, Entourage, is a competitive tenor-bass ensemble for students in grades 9 - 12. Under Larsen’s direction, Entourage earned numerous honors, including two Grand Championship awards in the bass clef division and multiple first runner-up and second runner-up awards in the single-clef division. At LWC Intermediate, his students were accepted into the South Dakota Music Education Association (SDMEA) Elementary Honor Choir and other SDMEA-sponsored elementary festival choirs.
Larsen earned his Bachelor of Arts in music education with a vocal emphasis from Augustana University in Sioux Falls, S.D. in 2022. While at Augustana, he served as a clinician for show choirs across the Sioux Falls School District and participated in choral practicums. He also received numerous honors in both choral and solo performance, including serving as section leader of the Augustana Choir tenor section from fall 2020 through spring 2022 and as vice president during the 2021 - 2022 academic year. Larsen was also recognized in the MTNA Young Artist Competition and was a two-time winner of the Augustana Concerto-Aria Competition in 2021 and 2022, which led to a featured performance at the Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls, S.D.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his friends, family, his wife Amber and their dog Maizey.
