Originally from Wichita, Kan., Kristina Sims was lucky to grow up in a community full of wonderful arts opportunities. With a rich background in dance, voice, and youth and professional musical theater, Sims spent many years choreographing around Wichita while earning advanced degrees in education and curriculum design.
During her first career as a fifth grade teacher, Sims also founded and directed Kansas’ first all-city competitive show choir, Wichita “Flight.” The group earned the Aspire Award for most promising new program after its first year and went on to achieve notable success, including Grand Champion title in its final season.
Since then, Sims has choreographed and produced for the Miss Kansas’ Outstanding Teen pageant, National Barbershop Competition, Christian Youth Theater (CYT) San Diego and China, Social Media Marketing World conference, Desi Oakley homecoming show, ShowUp (Where Music Moves) and more. She continues to choreograph, clinic, and judge competitive show choirs across the country while also producing and choreographing locally.
Newly based in Kansas City after recently moving from San Diego, Sims is thrilled to be back in the Midwest arts world. She cherishes the role of arts education in shaping confident, creative and compassionate young people, and is thankful for the opportunity to witness the performances here today!
